Buyers Guide

THE RANGE OF MATERIALS AVAILABLE FROM ZEBRA

Zebra offers a wide range of general purpose plain label products which include self-adhesive labels, tags and receipt papers.

In addition Zebra offers a number of specialist products such as Cryogenic labels which work down to -196ºC, Jewelry Tags, self destructing Tamper Evident labels and labels which are resistant to harsh chemicals such as Xylene.

Both direct thermal labels, which do not need a ribbon, and thermal transfer labels, which do need a ribbon, are available.

A range of linerless labels for desktop and mobile printers has recently been introduced.

Label products for industrial printers are outside wound on 76mm cores with a maximum roll diameter of 200mm.

Labels for use with desktop printers are outside wound on 25mm cores with a maximum roll diameter of 127mm.

Labels for use with mobile printers are in small rolls, outside wound on cores which are typically 12mm or 19mm.

DIRECT THERMAL MATERIALS

Direct thermal materials do not require a ribbon.

Direct Thermal Labels

The following materials are available as die-cut labels in rolls.

Z-Perform 1000D

Zebra Z-Perform 1000D is a direct thermal uncoated paper label with permanent acrylic adhesive.

It has a service temperature range of -20º to 50ºC and the lowest temperature at which the label can be applied is 0ºC.

This label material is suitable for use in a wide range of applications including packaging, shipping and box labels.

It is not recommended for applications involving long term exposure to sunlight, extreme heat or for application on a PVC surface.

No ribbon is required.

Z-Select 2000D

Zebra Z-Select 2000D is a direct thermal, white, premium top-coated, ultra smooth paper label with a permanent rubber based adhesive, ideal for use in low temperature applications.

It has a service temperature range of -40º to 50ºC and the lowest temperature at which a label can be applied is -5ºC.

Z-Select 2000D is designed to provide optimal image quality. It is ideal for high-speed printing applications where premium print quality is important.

Z-Select 2000D is not recommended for applications involving long term exposure to sunlight or extreme heat.

No ribbon is required.

Z-Select 2000D Removable

Zebra Z-Select 2000D Removable is a direct thermal, white, premium top-coated, ultra smooth paper label with a removable rubber based adhesive.

It has service temperature range of -40º to 50ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is 0ºC.

It is recommended for general purpose labelling of boxes, pallets and totes where removability is required.

No ribbon is required.

Direct Thermal Tags

The following materials are available on rolls as tags with no adhesive.

Z-Perform 1000D 110 Tag

Zebra Z-Perform 1000D 110 Tag is a 105 gsm. 110 micron white direct thermal non-adhesive paper.

This media is used for printed tags which, when stored properly, can be expected to remain legible for up to five years.

The service temperature range is -5º to 49ºC.

No ribbon is required.

Z-Select 2000D 190 Tag

Zebra Z-Select 2000D 190 Tag is a direct thermal, white, coated 190 micron paper tag stock which produces high quality black bar codes and human readable fonts.

It has a service temperature of -5º to 49ºC.

This tag is suitable for general purpose ticketing or tagging applications such as pallet tags or in-process work tags.

It is not recommended for applications involving long term exposure to sunlight, extreme heat or applications involving extended exposure to moisture or solvents.

No ribbon is required.

Direct Thermal Receipt Paper

The following materials are available as continuous rolls of receipt paper.

Z-Perform 1000D 60 Receipt

Zebra Z-Perform 1000D 60 Receipt is a 55 gsm. 60 micron white direct thermal non-adhesive paper.

This media is used for printing receipts which, when stored properly, can be expected to remain legible for up to five years.

The service temperature range is -5º to 49ºC.

Direct Thermal Special Purpose Media

The following products are available for special applications.

8000D Jewelry

Zebra 8000D Jewelry is a white polypropylene, direct thermal label stock with permanent acrylic adhesive.

It has a service temperature of -40º to 49ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is -23ºC.

It is available in two shapes. There is a butterfly shape with an adhesive free zone and a dumbell shape with full adhesive.

It is suggested for use in tagging jewellery, small cable labelling and the labelling of spectacles.

It provides excellent resistance to UV light.

No ribbon is required.

Z-Slip

Zebra Z-Slip is a direct thermal, coated, ultra smooth paper and polypropylene combination label with a permanent acrylic adhesive.

It offers excellent adhesion to corrugated packaging.

It is recommended for applications including packing slips, material safety data sheets and certificates of conformance.

No ribbon is required.

Direct Thermal Linerless Media

ZeroLiner 1000D

Zebra ZeroLiner 1000D is a linerless direct thermal, white, siliconised paper label with a permanent rubber adhesive.

It is Zebra's entry-grade linerless option for desktop printers and is ideal for low-medium print volumes.

It has good smear and scratch resistance.

It has a service temperature of -10º to 70ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is 8ºC.

ZeroLiner 2000D

Z-Perform 1000T is designed to provide optimal balance between performance and price.

It is suited to a wide range of applications including shipping and box labels.

Zebra recommends the use of the following ribbons with this label material:

Zebra PolyPro 3000T Clear is a clear gloss polypropylene label with permanent acrylic adhesive.

It has a service temperature range of -20º to 80ºC and the lowest temperature at which a label can be applied is 5ºC.

This product produces good quality text and barcodes with Zebra ribbons and can be used in a variety of applications such as document tracking, promotional labelling and chemical drum and industrial product labelling, as well as for use as a protective over-laminate. Zebra recommends the use of the following ribbons with this material:

Zebra PolyPro 3000T Gloss is a gloss white polypropylene label with permanent, acrylic adhesive.

This product can be recycled with other polypropylene substrates.

It is suitable for a wide range of applications including chemical drum and industrial product labelling, pallet wrap and shelf edge labels.

This material provides good flexibility for labelling curved or rough surfaces.

It can be used in a wide range of applications both indoor and outdoor, including packaging, pallet labelling, product labelling and shelf edge labelling.

It has a service temperature range of -40ºC to 93ºC and the lowest temperature at which the label can be applied is -8ºC.

It is suitable for long term applications where temperature can fluctuate or for cold storage labels.

8000T Blood Bag

Zebra 8000T Blood Bag is a matt white, topcoated polypropylene label with permanent, acrylic based adhesive.

It has a service temperature of -54º to 120ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is 7ºC.

This material is only suitable as a secondary label to be applied to the manufacturer's label on the blood bag. It is not approved for direct application onto a blood bag.

8000T Primary Blood Bag

Zebra 8000T Primary Blood Bag is a matte white polyethylene with a permanent rubber adhesive which has ISO 3826 approval for direct labelling onto blood bags.

It has a service temperature of -54º to 93ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is -23ºC.

The service temperature range is -196º to 121ºC and the lowest temperature at which a label can be applied is -29ºC.

8000T Cryocool was designed specifically for cryogenic applications in medical laboratories and hospitals.

Zebra 8100T Cryocool is a white thermal transfer polypropylene label with a high performance permanent acrylic based adhesive.

The service temperature range is -196º to 100ºC and the lowest temperature at which a label can be applied is 4ºC.

8100T Cryocool was designed specifically for cryogenic applications in medical laboratories and hospitals.

Zebra 5095 Resin

8100T CryoCool can be considered the successor to 8000T CryoCool and offers superior adhesion to curved surfaces such as vials and tubes than its predecessor.

8000T Lab Resist

Zebra 8000T Lab Resist is designed to resist the harshest chemicals and solvents such as Xylene and Acetone.

It is both tear and water resistant and is ideal for labelling slides for use in staining protocols.

It has a service temperature of -40º to 150ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is 2ºC.

Zebra recommends the use of the following ribbons with this material:

8000T Z-Destruct PE

8000T Z-Destruct PE has been replaced by 8100T Z-Destruct PE.

8000T Void Matte

Zebra 8000T Void Matte is a matte silver topcoated polyester label with permanent tamper-evident acrylic adhesive.

The specially treated metallised adhesive leaves the word 'VOID' on the surface if the label is removed after application.

It has a service temperature range of -40º to 150ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is 2ºC. The tamper-evident feature functions to a maximum temperature of 40ºC.

Zebra 8100T Z-Destruct PE is a destructible white thermal transfer polyethylene label with permanent acrylic based adhesive.

This label is designed to break apart once applied if removal is attempted, due to its aggressive adhesive and fragile face stock.

It has a service temperature of -40º to 80ºC and the lowest temperature at which it can be applied is 2ºC.

It is excellent for tamper evident applications, warranty labels and asset tracking.

Zebra recommends the use of the following ribbons with this material:
