GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The 1400g family consists of three ranges of corded barcode scanners. These are:
- the 1400g1D scanners which can read 1D barcodes
- the 1400gPDF scanners which can read 1D and PDF barcodes
- the 1400g2D scanners which read 1D, PDF and 2D barcodes.
The 1400g uses an area imager which gives omni-directional reading of 1D, PDF and 2D barcodes.
The 1400g is a low cost scanner product and does not offer image capture.
The 1400g can read all standard 1D barcodes and depending on model, can read PDF barcodes and most 2D codes.
The scanner can read barcodes printed on paper, or directly from electronic surfaces such as computer or mobile phone screens.
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
The scanner dimensions are 180 x 66 x 43mm (7.1 x 2.6 x 1.7") LxWxH.
The weight is 0.119Kg (0.26lb).
DROP RESISTANCE AND PROTECTION
The scanner can withstand up to thirty 1.5m (4.9') drops to concrete.
The scanner is protected to IP42, which means that it is protected against objects which are greater than 1mm in size (small tools) and against sprays of water 15 degrees from vertical (which corresponds to light rain fall in calm conditions).
CABLES AND INTERFACES
The 1400g scanners have a USB/Keyboard Wedge/IBM cable interface and work with purpose made cables from Honeywell.
Some 1400g scanners come in kits which include the cable. Other 1400g scanners come without cables and a choice of USB, Keyboard Wedge, RS232 and IBM 46xx cables is available.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
The 1400g scanners require 4.0 to 5.5V DC.
The operating power requirement is 400mA at 5V.
This power is available from a USB socket using a USB cable.
The Keyboard Wedge cable takes power from PC or terminal keyboard circuits. Where insufficient power is available an external power supply can be connected to the power socket on the cable.
Standard RS232 ports cannot provide power and an external power supply will normally be connected to the cable. Where the RS232 equipment can supply power on pin 9 of the DB9 connector, no external power will be required.
IBM 46xx terminals provide 12V DC and this is converted down to 5V DC by the special IBM cable.
Power Supplies with UK or EU mains plugs are available for the 1400g.

CABLES
Cables are included in the scanner kits.
For other scanner configurations a cable is required to provide communication and to carry power.
USB connections are able to supply power directly to the scanner from the connected equipment.
Keyboard Wedge connections are generally able to take power from the PC or terminal keyboard circuit. Where insufficient power is available an external power supply can be connected to the power socket on the cable.
Standard RS232 ports cannot supply power and generally a RS232 connection will require an external power supply to be connected to the power socket on the cable. However, if the RS232 port is able to provide power at pin 9 on the DB9F connector a power supply is not required.
IBM 46xx connections are able to supply 12V DC power. The cable reduces the voltage to 5V DC at the scanner.

Our standard charge for 2-3 day delivery to most locations in mainland UK is £10.
This charge is subject to a weight limit of 20Kg.
For consignments which are heavier than 20Kg we reserve the right to add a surcharge.
If your order includes products from more than one manufacturer we may need to ship items from more than one warehouse and in such circumstances there may be a carriage surcharge.
We will agree any carriage surcharge with you before accepting your order.
