GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The LS3008 is a rugged hand-held laser barcode scanner which offers affordable performance and durability. It is aimed at manufacturing and light industrial applications.
The LS3008 is comfortable and easy to use. It has a multi-line rastering scan pattern which eliminates the need for exact aim and positioning of the scanner. It is motion tolerant up to 5.08m/s (16.66'/s).
The scanner comes in a Yellow and Black colour scheme.
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
The scanner dimensions are 170 x 93 x 68mm (7.1 x 2.6 x 1.7") HxLxW.
The weight is 0.181Kg (0.4lb).
USER ENVIRONMENT
The LS3008 has an operating temperature range of 0º to 50ºC (-32º to 122ºF) The scanner can withstand multiple 1.825m (6') drops to concrete across the operating temperature range.
The LS3008 is protected to IP53, which means that it is protected against dust (although some limited ingress can occur) and against sprays of water 60 from vertical.
CABLES AND INTERFACES
The LS4208 scanner has a USB/Keyboard Wedge/RS232/IBM 46xx/Undecoded/Wand cable interface and requires an appropriate Motorola cable.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
The LS4208 scanners require 4.5 to 5.5V DC.
The operating power requirement is 140mA at 5V.
This power is available from a USB socket using a USB cable.
The Keyboard Wedge cable may be able to provide power from the PC or terminal keyboard circuit. Where insufficient power is available an external power supply can be connected to the power socket on the cable.
Standard RS232 ports cannot provide power and an external power supply will normally be connected to the cable. Where the RS232 equipment can supply power on a specified pin of the connector, a matching cable but no external power supply will be required.
USB Power Plus connections provide power to the scanner.
IBM 46xx terminals provide 12V DC and this is converted down to 5V DC by the special IBM cable.
Undecoded connections provide power to the scanner.
Wand connections provide power to the scanner.
A universal power supply and mains power cords are available for the LS3008.
RESOLUTION AND READING RANGES
Barcodes can be read with bar widths down to 3mil.
The distances from the barcode scanner over which some typical barcodes can be read is shown below:
5mil Code39 31.7-133.3mm (1.25-5.25")
13mil EAN13 0.0-482.5mm (0.0-19.0")
where the mil quantity is the bar width size expressed in 0.0254mm (0.001") units.
WARRANTY
The LS3008 is warranted for a period of three years.
CABLES
A cable is required to provide communication and to carry power to the scanner.
USB connections supply power directly to the scanner from the connected equipment.
Keyboard Wedge connections are generally able to provide power from the PC or terminal keyboard circuit. Where insufficient power is available an external power supply can be connected to the power socket on the cable.
Standard RS232 ports cannot supply power and generally a RS232 connection will require an external power supply to be connected to the power socket on the cable. However, some RS232 ports are able to provide power via a specified pin on the connector. Where an appropriate RS232 cable is available this can be used to supply power to the scanner and no external power supply is required.
USB Power Plus connections supply power directly to the scanner from the connected equipment.
IBM 46xx connections are able to supply 12V DC power. The cable reduces the voltage to 5V DC at the scanner.
Undecoded connections supply power directly to the scanner from the connected equipment.
Wand connections supply power directly to the scanner from the connected equipment.

Our standard charge for 2-3 day delivery to most locations in mainland UK is £10.
This charge is subject to a weight limit of 20Kg.
For consignments which are heavier than 20Kg we reserve the right to add a surcharge.
