GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Zebra DS4208 is a low cost high performance hand-held area imager 1D, PDF and 2D barcode scanner aimed at office and retail applications.
The scanner comes in two attractive colour schemes, Midnight Black and Cash Register White.
The DS4208 can read all standard 1D barcodes, PDF and most 2D matrix codes.
It can read codes printed on paper or displayed on mobile phones and computer screens.
Some DS4208 models are available as Scanner Kits which include cables. Some of these kits also include a stand for hands-free applications.
Other configurations can be built from the Scanners, Cables, Power Supplies and Accessories.
DROP RESISTANCE AND PROTECTION
The scanner is rated at IP43, operates at 0º to 40ºC and can survive multiple drops of 1.83M (6') to concrete.
CABLES AND INTERFACES
Cables are available for USB, Keyboard Wedge, RS232, IBM 46xx and other special purposes.
RESOLUTION AND READING RANGE
The scanner has a maximum resolution of 4 mil for 1D barcodes, 5 mil for PDF417 and 7.5 mil for Data Matrix codes.
The typical maximum read distances are 39cm for EAN13 and 18cm for 10 mil Data Matrix codes.
WARRANTY
The Zebra DS4208 has a 5 year factory warranty.
CABLES
Cables are included in the scanner kits.
For other scanner configurations a cable is required to provide communication and to carry power.
Most USB, Keyboard Wedge, and IBM 46xx connections are able to supply power directly to the scanner from the connected equipment. In some rare cases external power may be required.
Standard RS232 ports generally cannot provide power and RS232 connections will usually need the assistance of an external power supply and a cable with an external power socket.
