GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Datalogic QuickScan I QM2400 is a low cost 433MHz Star Radio wireless imager 1D and 2D barcode scanner aimed at general purpose applications.
The scanner can read most:
- standard 1D barcodes including GS1 Databar.
- important 2D codes including Aztec, Data Matrix, Maxi Code, QR Code, and Han Xin Code.
- postal codes
- standard stacked codes including composites, GS1 codes and PDF417
In addition to printed barcodes the scanner can read barcodes from mobile phone screens.
The scanner is used with the 433Mhz Star Radio BC2030 Base/Charger.
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
The dimensions of the hand-held scanner are 163 x 91x 41mm (6.4 x 3.6 x 1.6") and the weight is 0.2kg (0.44 lb)
The weight of the base station/charger cradle is 0.23Kg (0.50lbs).
ENVIRONMENTAL
The scanner can withstand repeated drops from 1.5m (5') to concrete.
The QuickScan I QM2400 scanner is rated at IP42, which means that it is protected against the ingression of small objects (>1mm) and sprays of water 15 degrees from vertical.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
The QuickScan I QM2400 base station/charger cradle requires an input voltage of 4.5 to 14VDC to operate the wireless link to the hand-held scanner and to charge the scanner when it is placed in the base station/charger cradle.
This power can be supplied from the connected equipment but the time to fully recharge is quite extended.
Unless the scanner is out of the cradle for a significant proportion of the time a USB cable connection should be sufficient to maintain the charge.
Whatever the type of cable connection it is probably better to connect a power supply directly to the base station/charger cradle since this gives much shorter charge times.
A full charge should give up to 30,000 reads.
RESOLUTION AND READING RANGES
The QuickScan I QM2400 can read 1D barcodes with barwidths as small as 4mil.
The typical depth of field is:
- Code39: 5mil: 5 to 150mm (0.2 to 5.5")
- EAN: 13mil: 5 to 350mm (.2 to 13.8")
- PDF417: 6.6mil: 10 to 130mm (0.4 to 5.1")
- Data Matrix: 10mil: 10 to 130mm (0.4 to 5.1")
