The Datalogic PowerScan PM9600 is a family of ultra rugged hand-held STAR Cordless 1D/2D barcode scanners with a choice of Standard Range or High Performance Optics.
WHERE DOES THE POWERSCAN PM9600 FIT?
The PowerScan PM9600 replaces the PM9501 and is part of the PowerScan 9600 family.
The PowerScan 9600 family is the latest in a long line of PowerScan Industrial barcode scanners.
The PowerScan PM9600 is the STAR Cordless PowerScan General Purpose model.
WHERE IS THE POWERSCAN PM9600 USED?
The PowerScan PM9600 is aimed at General Purpose applications which require industrial strength.
WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THE POWERSCAN PM9600?
RELIABILITY
The PowerScan PM9600 is inductively charged and has no electrical contacts.
Contacts are frequently a cause for failure as they can become bent, broken or dirty with use.
The only moving part is the scanner trigger which is designed to withstand 10 million hits.
TOUGHNESS
The PowerScan PM9600 is tough enough for most applications.
It can be dropped from a height of 2m to concrete.
It works at temperatures down to -20ºC.
It is totally sealed to dust and withstands immersion in up to 1m water.
STAR CORDLESS SYSTEM
The PowerScan PM9600 uses the STAR Cordless System which offers two way communication.
This means that those PowerScan PM9600 scanners which have Screens and Keypads can be used in fully interactive systems where the conversation is entirely under the control of the host computer.
The STAR Cordless System is a proprietary narrow band radio system. It uses 433Mhz in the UK and is immune to interference from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The radio range has been extended to 150m.
Each cradle can support up to 16 scanners.
The PowerScan PM9600 can also be used with the Star System USB Industrial Dongle accessory which allows up to sixteen PowerScan PMxx scanners to be connected to any device with a USB port.
POWERSCAN 9600 OPTICS
The PowerScan PM9600 omnidirectional imager has an advanced sensor with warm white illumination which provides snappy reading of all common 1D and 2D barcodes.
There is a choice of two optical systems. These are Standard Range and High Performance.
A red cross or box is projected on the barcode to assist aiming.
After a successful read occurs a green spot is projected on the barcode.
Standard Range Optics are based on a single camera which reads standard and low density barcodes at a standard reading range.
High Performance Optics use dual cameras which read higher density barcodes at a longer reading range.
MOTIONIX
The PowerScan PM9600 uses Datalogic Motionix Technology to make life easier.
Motionix automatically detects when the scanner is held in the hand and switches to hand-held mode which requires the user to press the trigger. When the scanner is placed on a stand it switches to automatic presentation mode.
FEEDBACK
The PowerScan PM9600 uses Datalogic 3GL (3 Green Lights) Technology.
Good barcode reads are indicated by three green lights, a loud beeper and a green spot projected onto the barcode.
The scanner also vibrates.
5-30VDC POWER
All PowerScan PM9600 models can handle 5V and 10 to 30VDC.
This voltage range covers a huge range of hardware scenarios and caters for the low voltage DC rings widely found in industry.

STAR CORDLESS POWERSCAN CHARGE AND COMMUNICATION CRADLES
These cradles provide inductive charging to the PowerScan PM9600 scanners. They will not work with earlier PowerScan scanners.
The cradles communicate via the STAR Cordless system and use plug-in Communication Modules for RS232 or USB cabled connections. Ethernet and Industrial protocols will follow. Some modules are protected to IP67.
Cradles can only charge one scanner at a time.
Each Cradle can support communication with up to sixteen scanners.
Most have a cable interface for RS232 and USB Cables for communication with a host computer.

Our standard charge for 2-3 day delivery to most locations in mainland UK is £10.
This charge is subject to a weight limit of 20Kg.
For consignments which are heavier than 20Kg we reserve the right to add a surcharge.
If your order includes products from more than one manufacturer we may need to ship items from more than one warehouse and in such circumstances there may be a carriage surcharge.
We will agree any carriage surcharge with you before accepting your order.
