GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Bluetooth Datalogic PowerScan PBT8300 is a high performance wireless hand-held laser 1D barcode scanner aimed at industrial applications.
All PBT8300 scanners come with removable batteries.
The PBT8300 scanner comes in a range of models which provide a choice of up to 1m or up to 10m reading range, no display screen or screens with 3 buttons and 16-key keypads.
The PBT8300 scanners have a full industrial specification. The scanners without screens are rated at IP65 and those with screens at IP64.The scanners operate at -20º to 50ºC and can withstand drops of 2m to concrete.
The scanners come with a wide range of supporting equipment.
There is a Base/Charger, a Charge Only Base, a Multi-Bay Battery Charger and a Single Battery Slot accessory which can be added to the Base/Charger or the Charge Only Base.
The PBT8300 scanner can be used directly with other Bluetooth equipment or in conjunction with a Base/Charger which works with Keyboard Wedge, RS232, USB or Wand Emulation cables.
Some PowerScan PBT8300 models are available as Scanner Kits with Base/Chargers and cables.
Other configurations can be built from the Scanners, Radio Base and Scanner Chargers, Scanner Chargers, Battery Chargers, Cables, and Power Supplies and Cords.
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
The dimensions of the PBT8300 scanner are 20.7 x 11.4 x 6.9cm (9.5 x 4.3 x3.7").
The weight is 0.38kg (0.8375lb).The models with the screens and keyboards are slightly heavier.
ENVIRONMENTAL
The scanner can withstand fifty drops from 2m (6.5') to concrete.
The operating temperature range is -20º to 50ºC.
The scanners without screens are protected to IP65 and those with screens to IP64.
Both are completely sealed to dust.
IP65 means that the scanner can withstand low pressure water jets from all directions.
IP64 means that the scanner can withstand water sprayed from all directions.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
The scanners require a means of recharging the scanner battery.
This can be done by recharging the battery in the scanner by recharging the scanner itself.
Alternatively the removable battery can be recharged and inserted in the scanner as required.
RECHARGING THE SCANNER
The scanner can be recharged using the BC8030-BT Base/Charger which is a combined radio base and scanner charger cradle, or a Charge Only Base which has no communication facilities.
Both of these require a 12V DC external power supply.
RECHARGING THE BATTERY
There are currently three methods of recharging the battery. The SBS-PM80 accessory can be attached to the BC8030-BT Base/Charger or the CHR-PM80 Charge Only Base.
This allows a RBP-PM80 removable battery to be charged in addition to the removable battery held within the scanner.
Finally a MC-P080 four slot battery charger is available.
This charges up to four RBP-PM80 removable batteries.
The MC-P080 requires a 14V DC external power supply.
RESOLUTION AND READING RANGES
The scanner comes with a choice of standard optics and auto extended range optics.
STANDARD RANGE
The standard scanner has a maximum resolution of 3mil and has the following working ranges:
5mil - 2.1 to 13.3 cm (0.8 to 5.2")
7.5mil - 3.5 to 24.2 cm (1.4 to 9.5")
10mil - 2.9 to 42.8 cm (1.1 to 16.8")
13mil (EAN) - 2.3 to 55.1 cm (0.9 to 21.7")
20mil - 6.3 to 78.5 cm (2.5 to 30.9")
40mil - 2.5 to 97.8 cm (1 to 38.5")
AUTO-RANGE
The auto scanner has a maximum resolution of 7.5mil and the following working ranges:
