GENERAL INFORMATION
The 433MHz Star Radio PowerScan PM9500 is a series of wireless hand-held imager 1D and 2D barcode scanners aimed at industrial applications.
All PM9500 scanners come with removable batteries.
The PM9500 scanners come in a range of models which provide a choice of Standard Optics and High Perfomance Liquid Lens Optics, and the High Performance models offer no screen or screens with three key and sixteen key keypads.
The PM9500 scanners have a full industrial specification. They are sealed to IP65, operate at -20º to 50ºC and can withstand drops of 2m to concrete.
The scanners come with a wide range of supporting equipment.
There are four Base/Chargers and these can support up to 32 scanners per receiver at a range of up to 50m.
All of the Base/Chargers have a cable interface which supports Keyboard Wedge, RS232 and USB cables. Two also support RS485 for networking and one of these provides an Ethernet connection.
A separate Charger Only base is also available.
A Multi-Bay battery charger is available.
Some PowerScan PM9500 models are available as kits with Base/Chargers, Power Supplies and Cables.
Other configurations can be built from the Scanners, Base/Chargers, Charger Only Bases, Multi-Bay Battery Chargers, Cables, and Power Supplies and Cords.
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
The scanner dimensions are 212 x 110 x 74mm (8.3 x 4.3 x 2.9").
ENVIRONMENTAL
The operating temperatare is -20º to 50ºC.
The scanners can withstand 50 drops from 2M (6.6') to concrete.
The scanners are environmentally rated at IP65, which means that they are totally protected against dust and can withstand low pressure jets of water.
The cradle can withstand 50 drops from 1.2M (3.9') to concrete.
POWER REQUIREMENTS
The PM9500 scanner is powered by a 2150mAh internal battery which can be recharged using a Base/Charger, Charge Only Base or a Multi-Bay Battery Charger.
The charge time using a Base/Charger is 10 hours using 5V host power or 4 hours using an external power supply.
The Base/Charger requires up to 800mA at 10VDC and the input voltage is 10 to 30 VDC.
RESOLUTION AND READING RANGES
STANDARD OPTICS
The standard optics have a fixed focus is optimised for reading medium and low resolution codes.
The reading distance is from close contact to over 800mm (31.5").
The smallest barwidth for 1D codes is 4 mil.
The smallest Data Matrix cell size is 7.5 mil.
The reading ranges are as follows:
4mil:6.0 to 17.0cm (2.3 to 6.7")
7.5mil:Data Matrix:9.0 to 12.0cm(3.5 to 4.7")
10mil:Data Matrix:4.0 to 18.0cm(1.5 to 7.0")
10mil:PDF417:2.0 to 25.0cm(0.8 to 9.8")
13mil:4.0 to 45.0cm(1.5 to 17.7")
20mil:4.0 to 55.0cm(1.5 to 21.6")
40mil:4.0 to 85.0cm(1.5 to 33.4")
HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID LENS OPTICS
The high performance liquid lens optics allows the imager to adapt the focus at different reading distances. This effectively combines three scanners into one such that:
- at less than 150mm (6") the device behaves as a high density scanner which can read 2.5mil 1D codes and 4mil 2D codes.
- between 150mm (6") and 500mm (19.7") the device is effectively a wide angle scanner which can read any barcode including very wide ones.
- at greater than 500mm (19.7") the scanner can read medium and low resolution barcodes.
