The Motorola Symbol LS3408-FZ is high quality hand-held laser barcode scanner aimed at industrial applications. It uses fuzzy logic and is particularly good at reading dirty or damaged barcodes.

The Symbol LS3408-FZ scanner comes in a high visibility Yellow and Twilight Black colour scheme.
The scanner can read all standard 1D barcodes including the GS1 DataBar.
The Symbol LS3408-FZ scanner has a resolution of 5 mil and can read 13 mil 100% EAN barcodes at distances of up to 61cm.
The scanner has a 4.5 to 14V cable interface which works with IBM 46xx, Keyboard Wedge, RS232, Synapse, Wand Emulation, Undecoded and USB cables.
The LS3408-FZ scanner is protected from dust and rain to IP65, operates at minus 30° to 50°C and can withstand 2m drops to concrete. The scanner is warranted for 3 years.
Two Scanner Kits are available for the Symbol LS3408-FZ with a choice of 2.8m (9') Keyboard Wedge or RS232 cables.
Other configurations can be constructed by combining a LS3408-FZ scanner with the large range of IBM 46xx, Keyboard Wedge, RS232, Synapse, Wand Emulation and USB cables. Power Supplies and Mains Power Cords are available, if required.
Finally a useful range of Accessories is available. These accessories include holders, an intellistand which automatically switches the scanner into presentation mode when placed in the cradle and a Tool Balancer Pulley for suspending the scanner within in easy reach of the user.

CABLES
Cables are included in the scanner kits.
For other scanner configurations a cable is required to provide communication and to carry power.
Most USB, Keyboard Wedge, Wand Emulation and IBM 46xx connections are able to supply power directly to the scanner from the connected equipment. In some rare cases external power may be required.
Standard RS232 ports generally cannot provide power and RS232 connections will usually need the assistance of an external power supply and a cable with an external power socket.
The range of available cables is huge and they have been divided into USB, Keyboard Wedge, RS232, IBM 46xx, Wand Emulation, Undecoded and Synapse cables.
