PRINTER DESCRIPTION
The Intermec PM43 is a family of "4 inch" wide mid-range industrial thermal transfer(TT) or direct thermal (DT) label printers which are available in 203dpi, 300dpi and 400dpi resolutions with a maximum printing speed of 12 inches per second.
The family falls into two series with different user interfaces.
The lower cost models have one button (OB) with an icon panel which provides illuminated symbols showing the status of the printer. Click here to see the ICON PANEL.

Intermec PM43
The PM43 is a "4 inch" thermal transfer or direct thermal printer which works with label stationery from 19.05 to 114.3mm (0.75 to 4.5") wide.
The 203dpi models have a maximum print speed of 12 inches per second and a maximum printable width of 108mm (4.25").
The 300dpi models have a maximum print speed of 12 inches per second and a maximum printable width of 106mm (4.17").
The 400dpi models have a maximum print speed of 10 inches per second and a maximum printable width of 104mm (4.09").
The PM43 printer comes as standard with USB, Serial, Ethernet and two USB Host ports for attaching USB keyboards, scanners and memory sticks.
All models come with the bright blue ready to work indicator.
The printer measures 181 x 252.5 x 431.94mm (11.6 x 11.19 x 19.04") HxWxD and weighs 15.82kg (34.88lb).
Printer Languages and Fonts
The PM43 printer runs under Intermec Direct Protocol (DP), Intermec Fingerprint (FP), Intermec IPL and emulates Zebra ZPL, Zebra EPL and Datamax DPL.
No Asian fonts are included. The available font selection covers the rest of the world (ROW).
The PM43 uses the patented Intermec PrecisionPrint technology which ensures pin-point accuracy and allows the printing of very small barcodes and character sizes down to as little as 4pt.
Interface Options
The PM43 comes as standard with USB, Serial, Ethernet and USB Host interfaces. Some factory delivered models also include:
- a combined WiFi and Bluetooth card
- a Parallel interface
Media Handling
The standard printer offers tear-off where the printed stationery is removed by pulling it against a tear bar.
Some factory delivered models come with a label peel and rewinder option which presents part peeled single printed labels and rewinds the spent liner.
Label Sensors
The PM43 printer has a movable gap sensor which works with die-cut label stationery, and labels and tags punched with holes.
All PM43 models also have a movable black mark sensor which is used with labels and tags with black registration marks printed underneath the label media.
RFID
Some PM43 models are factory fitted with an UHF RFID encoder and can write information to labels with UHF tags.
Memory and Real Time Clock
All PM43 printer models come with 128MB Flash and 128MB DRAM memory.
Some factory delivered models are fitted with a Real Time Clock.
Label Media
The PM43 direct thermal (DT) printer models can only print on DT label media.
The thermal transfer (TT) printer models can print on TT label media with the aid of a ribbon or on DT label media without a ribbon.
The label media can be outside wound on 38 to 76.28mm (1.5 to 3.0") cores, or fanfolded.
The printer internally houses rolls of labels with an outside diameter of up to 203mm (8").
Fanfold stationery is held outside the printer and is fed through a slot in the rear of the printer.
The label media width can be from 19.05 to 114.3mm (0.75 to 4.5") wide.
Thermal Transfer Ribbons
With the aid of a Thermal Transfer (TT) Ribbon the PM43 can print on Thermal Transfer (TT) label media.
The ribbons can be from 25.4 to 114.13mm (1 to 4.5") wide. The ribbons can be inside or outside wound on 25.4mm (1") cores.
The maximum ribbon length is 450M (1476').

LABELS
The PM43 can print on thermal transfer (TT) label stationery with the aid of a ribbon or direct thermal label media with no ribbon.
The printers work with roll-fed or fan-folded label media. The stationery can be Die-Cut Labels, Continuous Paper, or Labels and Tags which use holes or black marks for registration purposes.
The rolls are outside wound on 40 to 76mm (1.57 to 3") cores and the label rolls can be up to 203mm (8") in outer diameter.
The stationery can have a width from 19.5 to 114.3mm (0.75 to 4.5").
Intermec offers a range of direct thermal (DT) and thermal transfer (TT) label stationery for the PM43 printer.

These Duratherm II labels are presented in rolls wound on 40mm or 76mm cores.
Intermec Duratherm II labels consist of a non top-coated white direct thermal paper with a permanent adhesive. This label media was formerly known as Thermal Eco.
This material is recommended by Intermec for most general purpose labelling applications where exposure to chemicals and moisture is not anticipated.

Wax/Resin Ribbons
These ribbons form part of the Intermec Thermamax range and are available in several quality grades.
TMX 2010/HP06 is a standard quality wax/resin ribbon. It is suitable for printing on uncoated and coated papers and some synthetics. TMX 2020/HP04 is a good grade wax/resin ribbon designed for use with coated papers and synthetics. It has good smudge and scratch resistance. TMX 2040/HP13 prints well on floodcoated or varnished labels a tags.
TMX 2060/HP66 is Intermec's the top of line wax/resin ribbon.
TMX 2070 is a new wax/resin formuation especially suitable for Duratran II/Coated Papers and synthetics like PE, PP and Polyesters.
