DATALOGIC POWERSCAN M8300

The cordless PowerScan M8300 Mobile is part of a modular system which allows the user to tailor the solution to the problem.

To simplify ordering we offer the following complete kit:

Many other configurations can be constructed from the parts described below.

THE M8300 SCANNER

The PowerScan M8300 is a tough industrial laser hand-held barcode scanner and is exceptionally easy to install and use.

The scanners can read the following linear barcodes:

2/5 Family, CIP 39, Code 11, Code 128, Code 16K, Code 32, Code 39, Code 93, CODABAR, Code MSI, EAN/UPC, EAN128, GS1Databar, ISBN/ISSN, ISBT 128.

Good reads are signalled by the famous Datalogic 3GL system. Two green lights show on the scanner and a green dot is projected on to the barcode.

Damaged barcodes can be reconstructed from multiple reads using the Datalogic PuzzleSolver option.

Choosing the Scanner

The scanner comes in two forms. One has a display and a three button keyboard built in the scanner and is sealed to IP64. The other has no display or keyboard and is sealed to IP65.

Both types of scanner are offered with a choice of two laser optics.

Standard Range will read barcodes up to 1M and Auto Range will work up to 10M.

All scanners are available with or without removable batteries.

Finally the scanners are available with a choice of two radio frequencies. In the UK and EU the allowed working frequency is 433MHz.

These options combine to give a range of eight M8300 models for use in the UK and EU.

The M8300 scanners require a radio base station to link to other equipment and a means of charging the on-board batteries.

A range of charger and radio base stations is available. In some cases the charging and radio communication functions are combined and in others these are offered separately.

Details of the available chargers and radio base stations are shown below in CHARGERS and BASE STATIONS

CHARGERS

The chargers take the form of scanner cradles or removable battery chargers.

When the scanner is placed in a powered-up cradle the on-board batteries are charged.

There are three cradles for the M8300. Two of these also act as radio base stations.

All three cradles require a Power Supply

There are two removable battery chargers for the M8300.

One of these is a single slot removable battery charger which works in combination with the BC8060 or the C-8000 cradles.

The other is a stand-alone four slot removable battery charger, which requires a Power Supply

BASE STATIONS

The M8300 and the base stations use the narrow band radio Datalogic STAR Cordless System.

Up to 32 users can work through a base station and seamless roaming permits users to move between base stations.

Two combined charger and radio base stations are available. These are connected to other equipment using the CABLES listed below.

The BC8060 also offers an RS485 connection which with the aid of a splitter can be used to connect a network of base stations.

The combined charger and radio base stations are sealed to IP40 and do not offer the industrial resilience of the M8300.

Where applications demand sealing to IP64 the Datalogic Star Modem can be used.

All of the base stations require a Power Supply

CABLES

A new range of industrial cables has been developed for the new PowerScan family. These are not backwards compatible with earlier Datalogic or PSC products.

The main connectivity options are RS232, Keyboard Wedge and USB. Others include Wand Emulation and TTL, and some cables are terminal specific.

A selection of the most commonly used cables is shown below.

Many others are available. Please see PRICES AND OPTIONS
