DATALOGIC GRYPHON MOBILE

OVERVIEW

The Gryphon Mobile is a premium quality cordless hand-held linear imager barcode scanner aimed at retail and light industrial applications.

The equipment comes with a 3 year factory warranty.

The Gryphon Mobile products consist of a range of wireless hand-held scanners, combined radio base stations and chargers, charger units with radios, power supplies, cables and accessories.

The scanner unit, base station and charger come in light grey.

The scanner is sealed to IP30 and can withstand repeated drops of 1.8m to concrete. It has an ESD protection of 15kV and operates at temperatures from 0 to 40° C.

The scanner has a maximum resolution of 3 mil.

All scanner models can decode:

- most standard 1d barcodes including GS1 Databar.

In addition to the above the enhanced models can decode:

- Code16K, Code49, GS1 (Stacked, Extended Stacked and Omnidirectional), PDF417 and UPC A/E Composites.

The scanner can read barcodes from near contact to about 28cm (100% EAN13) and up to 37cm for 20mil barcodes.

Good reads are signalled by a beep and a dot of green light which is projected on to the barcode.

Damaged barcodes can be reconstructed from multiple reads using the Datalogic PuzzleSolver option.

The scanner is comes in a range of two models, the M130 and the M230.

The M230 extends the range of barcodes to include stacked codes.

These scanners communicate via a proprietary narrow band radio link with a working range of up to 30M.

In the UK and EU the permitted frequency is 433MHz.

Combined radio base stations and charger cradles are available. These are connected to other equipment by cable.

The above cradles are available with a choice of two multi-interfaces.

The Standard interface uses RS232, Wedge, Wand and USB cables.

The IBM POS interface uses RS232 and IBM 46xx and USB cables.

Up to 16 scanners can communicate via a single base station and up to 2048 scanners can coexist in a single area.

Charger only cradles without a radio function are also available.

This type of cradle can be connected by a serial cable to allow the programming of the scanner when placed in the cradle.

Both types of cradle require a 12 VDC power supply.

The scanners on-board battery is replenished when placed in either type of powered up cradle.

The typical number of reads per charge is 40,000 and the recharge time is about three hours.

Available accessories include a stand and a desk/wall mount.

Many requirements can be met by choosing from the COMPLETE KITS shown in the next section.

Other configurations can be constructed from the individual parts.

Details of the SCANNER options, BASE STATIONS, CHARGERS, CABLES, POWER SUPPLIES and ACCESSORIES are shown below.

COMPLETE GRYPHON MOBILE KITS

Other configurations can be constructed from the parts described below.

THE GRYPHON MOBILE SCANNER

The Gryphon Mobile scanners require a radio base station to link to other equipment and a means of charging the on-board batteries.

A range of charger and radio base stations is available. In some cases the charging and radio communication functions are combined.

Details of the available chargers and radio base stations are shown below in CHARGERS and BASE STATIONS

CHARGERS

The chargers take the form of scanner cradles.

When the scanner is placed in a powered-up cradle the on-board batteries are charged.

There are three cradles for the Gryphon Mobile. Two of these also act as radio base stations.

Please note the the C-Gryphon charger has no radio. However, the charger unit has a serial connection which can be used to configure the scanner when placed in the cradle.

All three charger cradles require a 12 VDC POWER SUPPLY

BASE STATIONS

The Gryphon Mobile scanner and the base stations use the narrow band radio Datalogic STAR Cordless System.

Up to 16 scanners can work through a single radio base station, and seamless roaming permits users to move between base stations.

Two combined charger and radio base stations are available. The base stations are connected to other equipment by a cable.

There is a choice of two interfaces.

The Standard interface uses RS232, Keyboard Wedge and USB cables.

The IBM POS interface uses RS232, IBM46xx and USB cables.

The Radio Base Stations require a CABLE

CABLES

The Radio Base Station models with the Standard interface can work with RS232, Keyboard Wedge, USB and Wand cables.

The base stations with the IBM POS interface can work with RS232, IBM46xx and USB cables.

Three commonly used cables are shown below.

Other cables are available. For further details see MORE CABLES
