Many other configurations can be constructed from the parts described below.

THE D8500 SCANNER

The PowerScan D8500 is a tough industrial hand-held imager barcode scanner which is sealed to IP65 and is exceptionally easy to install and use.

The scanner can read the following linear barcodes, 2d codes and postal codes:

Code 128, Code 32, Code 39, Code 93, CODABAR, EAN/UPC/JAN, EAN128, GS1 Databar and ITF 2/5.

Aztec, Data Matrix (ECC200), Maxicode, MicroPDF, MacroPDF, PDF417 and QR code.

Australia Post, Japan Post, KIX Code, Planet, Postnet and Royal Mail Code.

Aiming is assisted by a new five light dots system.

Good reads are signalled by the famous Datalogic 3GL system. Two green lights show on the scanner and a green dot is projected on to the barcode.

Damaged barcodes can be reconstructed from multiple reads using the Datalogic PuzzleSolver option.

Choosing the Scanner

The scanner is offered with a choice of three imager optics.

The standard optic is suitable for most general purpose applications. It reads medium and low resolution codes from contact to about 10 inches. The maximum resolution is 4mil on 1d barcodes and 6.6mil on 2d codes.

The high density optic is intended for use with linear barcodes with resolutions down to 2mil and 2d codes down to 4mil.

The wide angle optic is able to capture A4 size images at about 10 inches.

The three D8500 models are:
