General DescriptionThe Datalogic Magellan 1400i is a compact presentation scanner which sits in a tiltable stand which can be screwed down to the sales counter or the laboratory bench. Unlike most other presentation scanners the Magellan 1400i uses imaging technology which means that there are no moving parts to go wrong and no stray laser beams to give false reads. The Datalogic Magellan 1400i comes in a choice of black or grey to suit your colour scheme. Outstanding PerformanceThe Datalogic Magellan 1400i offers remarkably snappy performance. You simply show the barcode to the scanner. The Magellan 1400i has wide field of view and will read barcodes at up to 9 inches depending on barwidth and the quality. Most barcodes can be read in any rotation and the scanner is very tolerant to the angle of presentation. For the technically minded the Datalogic Magellan 1400i has a 100 line scan pattern with a scan rate of 1100 digital lines per second. The scan volume is 80 cubic inches, the minimum resolution is 5 mil and the minimum print contrast is 25%. Wide Range of BarcodesAlthough the Datalogic Magellan 1400i is primarily aimed at retail Point of Sale (POS) applications it can also read a wide range of industrial barcodes. In addition the Magellan 1400i reads PDF419 and micro-PDF 2d codes. Retail barcodes include all of the usual variations of EAN/JAN/UPC codes, EAN/UCC 128, ITF and RSS barcodes. Industrial barcodes include Code39, Code93, Code128, Interleaved and Standard 2 of 5, Codabar and MSI/Plessey. These industrial codes extend the use of the Magellan 1400i to almost any area where small barcoded objects are handled. Hands Free or Hand-heldThe Magellan 1400i can be unhooked from the stand and used to read barcodes on large objects. To facilitate reading closely spaced barcodes the Datalogic Magellan 1400i has a targetted mode where you can locate the barcode using a finder line and just read the required barcode. Integration and CommunicationAlthough most needs will be met by the default settings, the Datalogic Magellan 1400i can be fine tuned to your application by reading barcodes from the User Guide. Where sophisticated integration is required a range of commands can be sent to and from the host. Communication methods available to the Magellan 1400i include RS232, USB, Keyboard Wedge, Wand Emulation and IBM 46xx. Power can be supplied directly from the terminal or by an external power supply.
